The FSI study method is unsurpassed, because the CD (or, cassette) player becomes your "tireless teacher"repeating the same phrase, time after time, with no change in inflection, while you have time to repond. You test yourself, correct your errors, and repeat as often as you wish. All the voices you hear are native French speakers. Once you learn a pattern you learn how to use that pattern in many other contexts. In this way you are not simply learning to mimic your tapes but to use your new language creatively!

Basic French Part A gives you a vocabulary of about 900 words and practice using simpler forms of the language. Part B provides add'l vocabulary and instruction on the more complex sentence structures and phrases. Each part of the basic French course roughly corresponds to a full college semester course.

If you wish to increase your French skills beyond introductory level, we offer both intermediate and advanced levels. Both intermediate and advanced level courses increase voacbulary and provide progressively more advanced exercises, drill, and practice in complex sentence structures. There is also increased emphasis on reading and writing French.

In addition these courses contain narratives designed to develop reading skills and conversation exercises for perfecting grammatical usage.
